Empowered Teen is a youth-focused initiative dedicated to supporting and equipping teenagers to make wise life choices, overcome challenges, and grow into confident, purpose-driven young adults — through mentorship, digital skills training and safe spaces for honest conversation.
We meet teenagers where they are — online, at school, at home — and walk with them through the pressures that come with growing up in the age of social media and constant connectivity.
One-on-one and group mentorship from counsellors, educators and professionals who guide teens through identity, purpose and everyday decision-making.
Practical training on healthy screen time, media literacy and staying safe online — helping teens use technology instead of being used by it.
Judgement-free spaces where teens openly discuss mental health, abuse prevention, identity and the issues that matter most to them.
Empowered Teen was started in 2023, during the COVID-19 pandemic, by Ketra Kizito Kisekka-Ntale — a counsellor for families, children and adults. Seeing how much pressure young people were carrying from social media, screen time and isolation, she made a decision: take counselling out of the therapy room and into the community.
What began as informal sessions has grown into a full programme of mentorship, training and an annual convention that reaches teenagers aged 10–19 across Kampala and beyond.
